What are you willing to do to be the healthiest you? Setting goals for your health can be overwhelming, exhausting, and sometimes utterly terrifying.  It may be tempting to try to change more than one habit to reach your goals, but it’s probably best to take small steps. The hardest part is just getting started. Below, we have great tips to make small incremental changes and become the healthiest you!

But before you do: Download the Healthiest Helper to quickly identify the best supplements to help you treat adrenal fatigue once and for all.

  1. Eat breakfast every morning. There’s a reason why they say breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Eating a healthy breakfast gives you the energy to start your day off right. In addition, breakfast is linked to many health benefits including weight control and improved performance.

  2. Filter your water. Tap water is dirtier than we think. Your tap water has traveled through miles of pipelines, picking up contaminants, possible pesticides, and industrial run off along the way. It’s been disinfected with potential carcinogens like chlorine, ammonia, and or chloramines, then “fortified” with fluoride. All ingredients on our No Thanks List. And bottled water isn’t any better or cleaner for the environment. It’s virtually unregulated, expensive, and even the EPA says it’s not necessarily safer than tap water. Plus, it’s insanely wasteful. Staying hydrated is super important for optimal health. How about trying a Grayl non disposable water bottle with a built in filter while your on the go. And for great tasting filtered water at home try the AquaCera Counter-Top Filter System or really up your game with a reverse osmosis system by Home Master, an industry leader in water filtration.

  3. Switch to a natural sunscreen. Natural sunscreens have been proven to reduce the effects of sun damage, preserve the skin to keep us looking younger, and help fight against skin conditions and diseases. Chemical sunscreens contain many harmful ingredients which may put our bodies at risk. The UV neutralizing agents can ultimately become carcinogenic and therefore increase the risk of developing cancer as well as altering hormone levels by disrupting the endocrine system.

  4. Quit eating excess sugar and artificial sweeteners. The average person consumes 300 calories or more a day from sugar intake according to a recent report from the University of North Carolina. That’s an entire cup of sugar a day. Excess consumption of sugar leads to many health risks like diabetes, liver disease, and weight gain. But don’t think artificial sweeteners are any better than sugar - they contain an ingredient called aspartame that can be found in diet sodas, juices, baked goods, and candy. According to the American Cancer Society aspartame approximately 200 times sweeter than sugar and is claimed to be linked to a multitude of ailments including: cancer, seizures, headaches, depression, attention deficit order, dizziness, weight gain, Alzheimer’s disease, and lupus.

  5. Start reading food and personal care labels. Overwhelmed by all those hard to read food and personal care labels? We are too! That’s why we created the No Thanks List.

  6. Switch to a natural deodorant. Arm yourself with knowledge. The product you are actually using may contain harmful ingredients like parabens, phthalates, aluminum, fragrance, and more which over time with consistent use may increase the likelihood of allergies and sensitivities. Why take the risk when there are natural alternatives that can be just as effective like Schmidt's Natural Deodorant for Sensitive Skin which is free from aluminum and other harmful chemicals.

  7. Stop taking low quality vitamins and supplements. Vitamins or supplements sold at your favorite natural food store or market doesn’t mean they are necessarily healthy. Not all vitamins or supplements are created equal. For example, there are over 50,000 fish oil products available on Amazon. How do you know which product is sourced correctly, which doesn’t contain mercury, or which could be rancid? You don’t! At Healthiest we’ve done the work for you to find the healthiest, sustainably-sourced fish oil on the market.

  8. Add probiotics to your diet. Why? Probiotics are good for digestive health which you might already know. These good bacteria that line your gut are responsible for nutrient absorption and supporting your immune system. If you don’t have enough good bacteria you could suffer from digestive disorders, skin issues, candida, autoimmune disease, and frequent colds and flus. The best way to get your daily dose of probiotics is through foods like homemade yogurt, fermented vegetables, kefir, and raw cheeses. Or you can try taking a probiotic supplement.

  9. Power Down. Sleep is important for optimal health, that’s why it’s recommended to turn off all electronic screens at least one hour before bedtime to help you get some shut eye. During that hour prior to hitting the sack take a look at Healthiest cheat sheet for a good night’s sleep.

You can achieve the health you want! By making a few lifestyle changes and adopting some good habits you can be the healthiest you!
